PreSeason Week 3 Review and Picks

Howdy!,

Last nights games were a doozy.  They were much more interesting to watch than the crap that has been on lately.

GB(-4) covered and handled the CIN 27-13
BAL (-3) had no problems with JAC 48-17
TEN (-3) fought hard and beat ARI 32-27

Sadly enough I did not play any games last night but that will change today.  The first string offenses are playing the first half and some into the second.  I still like the First half plays.

Tonight
PHI vs CLE(-3) 1H
NE(-4) vs TAM 1H
SEA(-2.5) vs KC 1H

Texans (+3) vs NO on Saturday..... will wait for the 1H lines.

Rockin' and Rollin'

Howdy! Howdy! Howdy!

Well this weekend was full of surprises.  Andrew Luck had a great Second Quarter against PIT.  Texans handled the 49'ers.  I couldnt make my mind up if i wanted to play the Texans game, -3 for the game, -3 for the 1H.  I tried to get the 1H in but I couldnt get it in before kickoff.  However, I made a call to Vegas and was able to get in with the 2H at +0.5 HOU and hit it, brining me up 2 units and 4-4 for preseason.  Dont like tonights game.  PHI -3 vs NE +3, 1H lines PHI -2.5 vs NE +2.5.  Dont know if Brady is going to play.  Toss up for tonight, but i am leaning towards NE +2.5 for 1H.

Thursday Night Games NFL

Howdy!

Well tonights games dont seem at interesting.  Last week CLE pulled out 9 points out of nowhere and covered against DET.  GB was dismall against SD last week.  I dont expect them to play Rodgers for more than a series.  Dont trust this game so I wont play.  The other game for the evening CIN vs ATL is also a toss up.  ATL was handled by BAL last week by The Curtis Painter and CIN beat Tim Tebow and the Jets.  Dont feel good about this either.  No plays for me tonight.  I will wait for tomorrow.  Will be back with more info.

But if I had to choose. I will take ATL -4 against. CIN.

Go Texans.

Preseason Week Two... 49'ers vs. Texans

Meow, meow, Meow, Howdy!

Well, just as I thought and what they continue to do the Houston Texans hit the First Half bringing me to up 1 unit and 3-4 for the preason with my picks.  For those of you that watched the Dallas Cowgirls face the Lady raiders, you go what you paid for, Nothing!  Worst display so far.  I was tempted to pick dallas for the 2nd half at a pickem but was deterred since they are the cowgirls.

This week, the Texans will face-off with the San Francisco 49'ers my beloved team from my childhood.  I am wondering if I should wear my Rice jersey just to piss everyone off, but I will wear my custom jersey.... or maybe I will wear both.  The game kicks off at 6pm CST.  So far the line is HOU-3 with an O/U of 36.

Yesterday, Kubiak said that Andre Johnsona and Brian Cushing should play this saturday, but more to come later.  Also, I will have two more games that I am going to play coming on Thursday before the Thursday Night Games kick-off. Until Then,

Someone grabs the frozen peas....

Howdy!

Well that sucked... Last night preseason games were horrendous.  9 fourth quarter points by the browns killed my DET pick and a non existent cardinals were hammered by KC.  That wipes out my 2 u it lead to bring me flush on NFL and 2-4 with picks.

Took some baseball action last night and for some reason felt that the Astros were due and they hit.  With Strasberg on the mound for WASH, they continue to smoke with a 7 game win streak.  The stupid cardinals let me down with Loshe on the mound,  they could provide any support.

Tonight's pick is Houston Texans 1H +2.5.  Bulls on Parade!

Thursday Night PreSeason Football Review and FRIDAY NIGHT PICKS

Howdy!,

Last proved to be uneventfull.  Nevertheless, not sure if this is one word, but i dont care, The New England Patriots played the New Orleans Saints.  Saints were off of a short week, since they played the Hall of Fame game last Sunday, but they were able to cover the 4 point spread favoring NE.  This resulted in a loss for me.  The Philadephila Eagles (-1.5) played the Pittsburg Steelers, with the Eagles edging out the Steelers by one point, hooray, Loss for me.  Finally the third game that I played was the Buffalo Bills vs Washington Redskins (-2.5).  I took the bills and ending up winning, by 1.5 points.

Tonight, Presason action continues with the following matchups that I will be playing:
DET(-3) vs CLE
ARI (+2.5) vs KC, will buy that up to +3
MIA (-3) vs TB, Dont know if I will play this, but I might...

So todate for the preseason I am up 2 units.....  However, I will be more successful when the season starts.  Until then.

Hall of Fame Pre-Season Game Review

Howdy!,

Well this past Sunday was the First Preseason Game of the year.  New Orleans vs. Cardinals.  For those of you who watched the game are probably suffering from PTSW, Post-Traumatic Sports Watching... The NFL Network coverage was horrible, if not horrendous... During the game they would focus on an interview while the game was still being played.  We have waited months for this to happen, at least cut back to the game and still interview the HOF receipent.  I did not watch the induction, but John McClain of the Houston Chronicle said that Curtis Martin's speech was by far the best and brought a tear to his eye.

The line on the Game was New Orleans -3, and the covered in dramatic fashion.  With about 1:30 left in the fourth, Arizona threw a pick on the 1 yd line and NO sealed the game. This is just the amount of drama that I need. However I won, but the CFL games from last week still have me down.  I took BC Lions -3 vs. TOR early Monday and won. Final Score 18-9.  Weird Leauge indeed.

I have come to the realization that betting on Baseball is ridiculous and horrible.  Needless to say I will continue to play but will stick to 2 team parlays on the moneyline.  3 Straight 2-1 3 team parlays are killing me and the results have put me in the hole.  However, I will grind it out and wait until there is an obivous mismatch and conqueur.   Side Note:  Houston Astros are 3-21 since the All-Star Break.

Houston Texans will play Carolina this Saturday, Houston +2.5 as of today.  Will have more info later this week.  Until then.

Pre-Season Football Gambling aka "I think I might be a degenerate"

Howdy!,

The time has arrived.... Presason Football kicks off this weekend, Sunday August 5th, with the Arizona Cardinals vs New Orleans Saints.  It could not have come quick enough.  I have grown tired of following Canadian Football and its weird scoring system and unreliable players.  How do you lose a 20 point lead in the 4th quarter Saskatchewan?????  Anyways, the lines for this weekend is NO -3 +109.  This is my pick and with last season, I play all of my picks in Las Vegas.

Houston Texans will kick off the Pre Season on Saturday August 11th at 6:00 pm CST at Carolina.
TV: ABC-13/KTRK

RADIO: 610 AM/100.3 FM/1010 AM
NO LINE AT THIS TIME

However, if you are interseted in CFL this is what is in store this week.
MTL vs WPG Friday August 3rd
BC vs TOR Monday August 6th

Take a Look Around

Howdy!

Do you feel that there are some movements and exercises at Crossfit that you need more work on?  Do you typically arrive at your box 10, 15, or 30 minutes early to your class time? If you arrive early, do you just stand around and watch the class before you do the WOD and tell yourself, OMG I dont want to do that?

Well if you do, you are wasting valuable time.  Take this time to work on your double unders, Kipping Pull UPs or Muscle ups if there is room available.  Grab your jump rope and practice.  Jump on a bar and work on just your kipping motion.  Below is a link to a kipping tutorial.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-cTAJnIGm6c

Each week the time that you wait for class to start can add up to 30, 45, or 90 minutes of training time per week that you are losing.  Add that up per month.... Lots of time.

Also, if there is room available at the racks, get some strength work in.  Do your Wendler's 5/3/1 work to increase your strength and your perfomance.  Work on clearns, press, jerks, snatches, any thing that will help you at the box.  Until next time

Why am I doing this???

Howdy!

Long time no blog... The theme of today's post is to identify the purpose of your goals. Without a clear plan, you will just be wasting time. You have to set your mind to a realistic goal in order to achieve it. Establishing small obtainable benchmarks allows for a higher probability of completing the larger goal. In this scenario the sum is greater than the individual parts.

Let me provide an example. If your goal is to bench press 300 lbs or clean and jerk 265 lbs, and you currently bench 200 and C&J 185, you will not be able to complete this weight successfully with months of hard work an dedication. Following a properly designed training and nutrition program is the only way to do so.  I recommend Wendler's 5/3/1 powerlifting system.  Nutrition is an important element to sustain the physical activity to add strength and size, if that is your goal.  Water is the most important nutrient needed to fuel your body properly.  De-hydration will make you sluggish and you will get gassed fast. Before I start to ramble, let me summarize.

1. Write out your Goal
2. Plan some incremental goals
3. Execute them.
4. Make a chart to visualize your goal to stick to it daily.
5. Do IT.
6. Check your progress Monthly to ensure that you are on track

NO SUGAR CHALLENGE!!!!!!! Bikram Yoga

Howdy!

Earlier this month I embarked on a no sugar, no artifical sugar, added sugar challenge. For those of you who are not aware of my love and obession of sugar, I love it! I love Coke, Sweet Tea, ice cream, and Awesome Cup Cakes. Vanilla is my favorite. Since the beginning of Februray, I have sworn off these delicious goodnesses and have stuck to my guns and have refrained from consuming them. I am using Agave nectar to sweeten my coffee and Malt-O-Meal in the morning other than that, it is WATER and UnSweet Tea for me (only during meals). Coconut water is also a savior.

For my workouts, I have averaged 3 WOD's a week and have begun attending Bikram Yoga at least two times a week. For those of you who have not tried Bikram Yoga because you thought it wasnt for you or you had a preconceived notion that Yoga was for tree hugging hippies you are wrong. I thought the same until one of my clients convinced me to attend a class with him and since then I was hooked. On my first class, i felt that i had just finished 3 Fran's and was spent. As soon as I left the room (105 Deg F) I was hit with a lot of energy and I felt great. I went back next week and put together a string of 3 classses and felt amazing.

Supplementing Crossfit with Yoga has been awesome for me and I can tell that my breathing is better and I have seen an increase in lung capacity. Who would have thought that eating right and taking care of yourself could have so many benefits. So far, I have lost about 6 lbs and I am noticing that my pants are loosening up. Will give a month in update next week. Until then...

Force Factor Product Review Update!

Howdy!

Well it has been a while since my last post. Needless to say I abandoned the Force Factor Challenge after two weeks. I noticed that there was a significant amount of water retention and I did not care for the extra weight. So I quit it. Not worth the money. You will be better off eating right, and if you have to take a supplement, go with protein after your workout.
